Today we stopped at the Greek island of Mykonos. There isn't much to do there but wander around & take in the ocean views. Had it been warmer it would've been a perfect beach day. The island is laid out like a maze, originally to confuse invading pirates. It's pretty hard to find anything. We started the day by hiking to the highest point, which turned out to be fairly difficult because of the steep inclines. From there we just took in the view all the way down & wandered through the tacky tourist areas. We eventually ran into the windmills the island is famous for. I stopped to get a kitkat to eat while we watched the sunset, but one of the island's many cats was insistent it should be hers, very insistent, so I gave up for fear of being mauled.
We found a nice place for dinner by the shore called Alegro and enjoyed our best meal of the trip - pasta diavlo- spaghetti in a spicy meat sauce. It had a very unique flavor, possibly cinnamon.
We woke up to very rough seas on our final sea day. I finally had to relent & put on my sea sick bands. Luckily things cleared up by mid afternoon and we had fun playing trivia with our friends. Never have we made so many friends on a cruise since our honeymoon. We've met a couple from Minneapolis, Jason & Jackie and Brittany & Jeff from Michigan both on their honeymoon. A couple from Massachusetts, Dan & Jen also on their honeymoon (we learned yesterday they love penguins & Disney)! And a couple from Ontario Tom & Sheila celebrating their retirement. We've met most of them for trivia each night & won a couple of times!
I'm sad our sea days are over. The rest of the cruise will be busy & go very fast, but I'm also excited for all the italy stops! Arrividerchi!
